The U23 development squad was founded in 2009 and upgraded to UCI Pro Continental status for this season. Hagens Berman Axeon prides itself in graduating riders to the WorldTour, and from last year’s team four did just that - - Chris Lawless to Team Sky, Jhonnatan Narvaez to Quick-Step, Logan Owen to EF Education First-Drapac, and Neilson Powless to LottoNL-Jumbo. The team has a 16-rider roster for 2018, representing six countries. Among the seven new riders are several national champions, including American Cole Davis (2017 U.S. Junior Road Race champion), João Almeida (2016 Portuguese TT and RR national champion), and American Thomas Revard (2017 U.S. U23 Crit champion). Mikkel Bjerg of Denmark is the reigning U23 Time Trial World Champion. Returning to the team is American Christopher Blevins, who won the 2018 U.S. U23 Cyclocross national title and won a stage at the 2018 Joe Martin Stage Race.
